Whoa! Meghan McCain takedown! The battle of the GOP fems got ugly yesterday when McCain blasted Tea Party Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell as a scary nut job. "Christine O'Donnell is making a mockery of running for public office," McCain said yesterday on ABC's This Week. "She has no real history, no real success in any kind of business." The message it "sends to my generation is that one day you can just wake and run for Senate, no matter how" little "experience you have—and it scares me in so many ways," she added. "In my group of friends, it turns people off because she's seen as a nut job."
Political analyst Matthew Dowd on the same program compared votes for Tea Party candidates like O'Donnell to "crimes of passion." People vote out of anger against Washington, but "in the aftermath you think, 'Maybe I shouldn't have done that,'" he explained. As for O'Donnell, he added, "the great news is, the Delaware electorate is probably going to send her packing one more time." (More Christine O'Donnell stories.)
