A Detroit man tried to have his dog euthanized, only to find her the next morning in the garage where he’d left her body—standing on all fours. "Are you still my dog?" he said to her. "It was like a scene from Pet Sematary," he tells the Detroit News. Officials at the veterinary center he brought her to Saturday speculate that the dosage Rottweiler Mia received wasn’t strong enough.
All is not happily ever after, though: Matt Olivarez, 27, decided to euthanize Mia because the 11-year-old dog has spinal problems that make it so difficult to walk that he must feed her by hand; he's also facing foreclosure and doesn’t have the money to properly care for her condition. After the botched attempt, however, “I don't know if I could do it a second time,” he says, adding that he is trying to find her a new owner.
