Witnesses say accused Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan methodically walked around the Army base's processing center as he stalked his victims. "I noticed the weapon he was firing had an infrared sight, like a laser sight on the weapon," said a sergeant who got shot five times, reports CNN. "He was aiming at the soldiers." The hearing, expected to last weeks, will determine whether Hasan should stand trial.

The accused remained expressionless during testimony, notes AP. Before the shooting, in which 13 were killed and 32 wounded, Army Sgt. Alonzo Lunsford said he made eye contact with Hasan. "I was wondering why he would say 'Allahu Akbar.' He reached up, pulled a weapon out and started discharging the weapon." Allahu Akbar means "God is Great" in Arabic.
