Google's Street View has come to Brazil, but only a week after its debut in South America, the tech giant has been hit with complaints of grisly images available on the service, the Telegraph reports. It seems the world at large is not quite ready for an unadulterated look at the streets of Rio de Janeiro, whose homicide problem is laid bare by a number of Street View photos showing dead bodies and police investigating crime scenes.
A blog, Street Viu, has been set up to collect the most striking images caught by Google's cameras before they are removed, notes CNET. Individual images may be shocking, but they are “no different to what anyone might expect to see for themselves around the country,” says a Google representative. “Sometimes that means our cars inadvertently capture odd or inappropriate moments as they drive past.” The company promises to remove offending photos as soon as they are reported.
