In a political season defined by anger, Carl Paladino's rage stands out, says the New York Times. Though some say he's merely tapping into voter dissatisfaction, others think the racist-email-sending, mud-slinging, reporter-fighting candidate for NY governor has taken things too far—including, apparently, members of his own party. “I’m always skeptical and concerned when a candidate goes into his opponent’s personal life,” says Long Island GOP Rep. Peter King.
“I think the campaign should be fought on issues,” adds the chairman of the state Conservative Party, which endorsed Paladino for governor. He said Paladino's decision to accuse Andrew Cuomo of having an affair was “not something I would do.” But the candidate is unapologetic: “I’m not politically correct, purposefully," he said. And how—he's already promised to take a baseball bat with him to Albany, and has called state politicians leeches, pigs, and wimps. Click here for the latest on Paladino.
