Adolf Hitler, feared dictator and leader of the Nazis, was a struggling artist back in 1908—but now experts say a collection of his paintings could fetch more than $237,000 at auction. The watercolors, depicting views of farmland, villages, and factories, were discovered in an Austrian estate and will be sold Thursday, the Telegraph reports.

The future fuhrer “tried to get into an academy in Vienna but had two applications turned down,” says an auction house rep. “He simply wasn't good enough. There's been a lot of research done into the rejections and some have labeled it as a turning point in history. If he'd been given a place in the academy the most we'd ever heard of Adolf Hitler would have been that he was a routine artist painting some nice landscapes.” Click here to see how much other Hitler paintings have sold for.
