Glenn Beck rallied the right at an event in Illinois over the weekend, invoking God, the Constitution, Thomas Jefferson—and deep fried potatoes. Speaking to a crowd of some 300, Beck mocked Michelle Obama's healthy heating campaign, reports the Chicago Sun Times. "Get away from my french fries, Mrs. Obama,” he said. “First politician that comes up to me with a carrot stick, I’ve got a place for it," he said, adding: "And it’s not in my tummy.”
Beck's surprisingly crude barbs weren't limited to junk food. "Will you raise your right hand and swear you will stop sending politicians to the rest of us, until you get it right?" he joked. Protesters outside the event weren't laughing: "There are a lot of religious leaders in the Chicago area who are beginning to feel Mr. Beck and others are hijacking Christianity," one said.
