Iran Releases US Hiker Sarah Shourd

Iran has officially released captive American hiker Sarah Shourd, but she's still in prison "finalizing the details," according to her lawyer. "She has to go through the formalities inside the prison," he told the AP. Meanwhile, Iran has extended the detention of her two hiking compatriots, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, an additional two months.

Over the weekend, Iran promised to release Shourd on $500,000 bail because she has numerous health issues, most notably a precancerous condition. Shourd's family said it didn't have and couldn't get the money, and asked the government to reduce the sum. There's no word yet on whether Iran obliged. For complete coverage of the saga, click here.
